OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know about the conditional probability right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyway in option A , P(Male | type B) that means probability of being male given that the type is B. so the probability is P(Male | type B ) = number of males in B / total number in B = 48/(48+22) = 48/70 now P(Male or type B ) that means probability of being male or being in type B, so here P(Male or type B) = number of males /total number + number of type B / total number - number of male in type B /total number now compare

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should know about conditional probability and P(A or B), P( A and B) kind of formulae before attempting these kind of question, please refer to them and practice atleast two of each kind and then attempt these kind of problems :) :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes its B, because as i said the P(Male or type B ) will come as 0.625, so B is the correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait its not B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(Male | type B ) = 48.0/70 = 0.6857 P(Male or type B) = 125/200 = 0.625

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is B true???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i told you to calculate those values, why are you in such hurry about result, learn the concept friend, rest will automatically come :)
