What is the molality of a solution with 166 grams of KI dissolved into 1000mL of a solvent with a density of 5g/mL?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

to find the molarity of a solution you need to know the moles of the solute (KI in this example) and the volume (in L) of the solution. the question doesnt provide enough information to find the volume of the solution.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

wait i just noticed it said molaLity. So there is enough info you need the moles of solute and the mass of the solvent in kg \(molality=\dfrac{moles~of~solute}{kg~~of~solvent}\) you can find the mass of the solvent with the density \(density=\dfrac{mass}{Volume}\) can you solve it from here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe so, thank you! :)

sweet, no problem!
