Which of these acids occurs naturally in the body and performs important regulatory functions? A. carbonic acid B. Zacetic acid C. magnesium hydroxide D. sodium hydroxide
*acetic
carbonic acid, it's conjugate base (bicarbonate) is an important pH buffer in blood.
magnesium is another one
magnesium hydroxide is not naturally occurring in the body nor does it perform any regulatory functions. Magnesium ions, \(Mg^{2+}\), do actually serve as cofactors many enzymes, but thats irrelevant to the question.
so your saying since the body requires magnesium that it can only recieve it through supplements like food and vitamins ??? im not being sarcastic im actually asking a question.
yeah, though the word "vitamin" is colloquially interchangeable with "cofactor", so \(\sf \underline{loosely}\) speaking \(Mg^{2+}\) ions ARE vitamins as they perform a similar role. You do need to acquire them through your diet but they're ubiquitous in nature, so getting a sufficient amount is easy.
thanks thats something i didnt know ....
no probs, dude
