i dont know if im getting the question wrong but i think its D because since mutation is at genetic level meaning in DNA bases, so protein synthesis occurs using DNA strand as a template for making mRNA which then goes for translation to form protein, so the genetic information along with mutation is passed on to the new protein, thus this mutation becomes part of the protein [casing it to malfunction, do a different function or don't function at all] (at times mutation has a good outcome but its mostly rare)
@Somy If all the DNA present in your cells were transcribed into protein your answer would be correct, however not every base is part of a gene (there are other elements e.g. regulatory) and so not every base will become a protein. Thus the only possible irrefutable option is that it will be passed on (through mitosis/meoisis).
