chem q

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Well. first we need the balanced chemical equation, which will be: CuSO4.5HOH = CUSO4 + 5HOH

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

So from the balanced equation we can look at the mole ration, 1 mol of hydrous salt produces 1 mole of anhydrous salt.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Since we know the mole ratio, is 1 to 1, we can solve for the rest of the equation. Mol of hydrous salt= mass of hydrous salt/ mol mass of hydrous salt = 2.3754/249.6= 0.00952 mol of anhydrous salt= 0.00952 mass of anhydrous salt =mol of salt x mol mass of anhydrous salt = 0.00952 x 159.6 = 1.5194 g
