Help...
When the outliers are removed, how does the mean change? The mean decreases by 2.75. The mean increases by 2.75. The mean increases by 3.25. There are no outliers.
what are the outliers?
I guess ur supposed to figure if it does then what is it or if it doesnt
Well to figure out an outlier...we need to find out the IQR Median = 44 Q1 = 38 Q3 = 45 IQR = Q3 - Q1 = 7 An outlier is any number that is more than \(\large Q_3 + 1.5 \times IQR\) or less than \(\large Q_1 - 1.5 \times IQR\) So any number that is above \(\large 45 + (1.5 \times 7) = 55.5\) or below \(\large 38 - (1.5 \times 7) = 27.5\) It looks like we have 1 number that satisfies that data...which would be 18
Now if we were to remove that 18...how would the mean change? The mean before would be \(\large 18 + 38 + 38 + 40 + 44 + 44 + 44 + 46 + 48 = 40\) The mean after removing that 18 would be \(\large 38 + 38 + 40 + 44 + 44 + 44 + 46 + 48 = 42.75\) So the mean would increase by 2.75 by removing that outlier
