So y is obviously 1/2
so the you plug 1/2 in as y in the other equation
you can do this by substitution method from the second equation y = 5/10 = 0.5 now plug y=0.5 into first equation and solve for x
\[2x+4\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }=36\]
so x=17
