Describe in your own words, in terms of particle movement and energy, what occurs when a liquid is heated to its boiling point.

The atoms or molecules gains enough kinetic energy to overcome any inter molecular attractions.Since, there wld not be any attractive forces between the particles, they are free to move away into space.

the entropy is increasing, there is more random disorder as the particles disperse more throughout the system. If they are in an open container, they are able to flow out like eric_d stated, into the atmosphere.
