In an exothermic reaction that has reached equilibrium, increasing the temperature will result in which of the following? a. It will favor the reverse reaction. b. It will favor the forward reaction. c. It will ncrease the pressure within the system. d. It will favor both the forward and reverse reactions

OpenStudy (abmon98):

A) equilbrium would shift towards the reactants so it will favour the reverse A

However, idk for sure because everybody I know is saying that it is A, and I am noob mode at chemistry. ^-^

I would also think is is A based off of what I read..... increasing the temperature does increase the pressure, but "When the temperature of an equilibrium mixture is increased, the rate of both reactions increases , but the rate of the endothermic reaction (the reaction that absorbs the added energy) is increased more. For the hydrogen iodide equilibrium, an increase in temperature favors the endothermic reverse reaction. "
