which two investment options would be best if you are 45 years old, just starting to save, and want to retire when you are 65?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nurali @ganeshie8 any Ideas? I would guess mutual funds and IRAs but that doesn't seem entirely right, but I don't know what would work better

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Since you have 20 years to retire, you can invest some money in stocks also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so what do you think, stocks and IRAs then?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

I think so - stocks are risky but if they perform well, they give u more returns than mutual funds or any other investment. So you should always invest some money in risky stocks if you want higher returns

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

However, if you're 60 years old and planning to retire by 65, then stocks are not good as you can not absorb any losses

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

The older you become the safer investments you should pick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IRAs are safer than mutual funds, correct?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

stocks and IRAs sound good for 45 years old person

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

Yes, IRAs are safer than mutual funds

Thank you for the input!

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):
