Well we'll find the volume and that will tell us out answer. We have a whole sphere here (the 2 parts on the end put together make one sphere) And a Cylinde. So we find these 2 volumes and add them together for the full volume. So the sphere, the radius is 2. So we plug 2 in to 4/3pir^3 to get?
Is that (pi)^3?
Yes
I got 32/3
Now we have to find the volume of the cylinder in the middle. You find that by: V=pi(h)(r^2) Se we know the radius is 2 because it has the circle base and we know the height is 5 because it's given.
Correct
So what do you get for the Volume of the Cylinder?
Will it be 32/3?
No the equation for the Cylinder is different. It is: V=pi(h)(r^2) So: V=pi(5)(2^2) Which is?
'Cause we haven't find the surface area yet. I thought at first the surface area was 32
20(pi)
We'll do surface area in a minute, right know focusing on the volume of the entire shape. Yes 20pi
So now to find the TOTAL Volume, we ad the volume of the shere (32/3pi) and the cylinder (20pi) Or cour|dw:1402627323712:dw|se by getting a common denominator and adding them.
