If you have 1 gram of H2O, what would be the molecular mass? Would it be 18 g/mol which is the molar mass of H2O?

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

18 g/mol is indeed the molar mass. But molecular mass is calculated in atomic mass units, or Daltons. So, one molecule of H2O has a molecular mass of 18 amu or Daltons.

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

Molecular mass is the mass of a molecule. Molar mass, mass of a mole. It'll be the same numerically, just different units.
