Medal and fan Which of the following pairs would make a good buffer? A. HNO3 and NO3- B. HCl and NaOH C. CH3OOH and NaOH D. H2C2O4 and HC2O4- I chose C. Would that be correct? Thanks(:

OpenStudy (aaronq):

To make a good buffer, you need a weak acid and it's conjugate base. is CH3OOH supposed to be CH3COOH? It would work since some of the acid will be neutralized by the base.. but I think the oxalate/oxalic acid pair is a better option.

Yes sorry, it was a typo. So you think D would be a better option?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

yeah. Acetic acid/sodium hydroxide would be fine to make the buffer, but it wouldn't be the buffer pair.

Awesome, thankyou(:

no problem!
