Which statement best relates an empirical formula with a molecular formula? They are always different for the same compound. Subscripts of empirical formulas can be reduced. Molecular formulas can be determined from empirical formulas. They both show the actual ratio of elements for a compound. @Somy

@Somy help

@iambatman

OpenStudy (somy):

any idea at least?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i was thinking it wasThey both show the actual ratio of elements for a compound. @Somy

OpenStudy (somy):

Molecular formula- chemical formula that indicates the kinds of atoms and the number of each kind in a molecule of a compound. Empirical formula-formula giving the proportions of the elements present in a compound but not the actual numbers or arrangement of atoms.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so Molecular formulas can be determined from empirical formulas

OpenStudy (somy):

@iPwnBunnies what do u think? im kinda between first one and 3rd one

OpenStudy (somy):

ah no no sorry i read it wrong, 1 is wrong

OpenStudy (somy):

so yeah its 3rd one

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

I don't understand choice 1. However, you can only determine the molecular formula if you know the molecular mass.

OpenStudy (somy):

then last one? im kinda confused with all these options

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

I would just go with choice 3. .-. I want to know what choice 1 means lol.

OpenStudy (somy):

lol thnx @iPwnBunnies ♥
