Sublimation can occur because solids have A. a melting point. B. a vapor pressure. C. a boiling point. D. a triple point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@aprehan ?:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol these answer choices are so poorly stated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I think what answer choice your teacher is looking for is vapor pressure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b/c think of the atmospheric pressure as a lid/container, and it's keeping the vapor pressure of the solid at a low amount

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the atmospheric pressure decreases, your lid isn't strong enough to push down on the solid's vapor pressure (which was keeping the solid as..well..a solid), so your solid just turns all into vapor

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is called sublimation (directly from solid to gas)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got a hundred on my test so thanks to all of you guys lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow awesome...wait you're taking a test online?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What university are you going to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Jmhs/Ashworth College :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The idea of taking tests online UN-supervised is new to me lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):
