A ball is thrown upward from the top of a building. The function below shows the height of the ball above the ground, ft, in feet, at different times t in seconds: f(t) = -16t^2 + 32t + 90 The average rate of change of f(t) from t = 4 to t = 6 is _____.

Average rate of change is \[ROC=\frac{f(x_2)-f(x_1)}{x_2-x_1}\] Does this help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do i basically just do this. \[\frac{f(4)-f(6)}{ 4-6 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not exactly, the x_2 value is the second time value: \[\frac{f(6)-f(4)}{6-4}\] Otherwise you would get a value negative of the answer
