solve for x 12^x=28
Is this\[12^{x}=28\]
yeah but solve for x
This is a log problem. Are you familiar with logs?
yeah but they are hard i get confused with logs
Logs are pretty tedious...I agree. The conversion is this\[x=a ^{y}-->y=\log _{a}(x)\]Does that help you? Look at the way the original is set up and how the variables translate to the log function.
Solution Steps 1. Simplify Exponents 12=28 There is no solution to this problem.
What do you get?
i got 1.340977742749
Muzzack, you are incorrect. This is a log function.
im not sure if its right
This is how to convert between log bases. To get to a base of 10, which is what your calculator is set to find, you do this:
\[\log _{b}M=\frac{ \log _{a}M }{ \log _{a}b }\]In your case it would be
\[\log _{12}(28)=\frac{ \log _{10}(28) }{ \log _{10}(12) }\]
This you can do on your calculator. Do you know how? You now have your logs with bases of 10.
i think so ill try it out
Please...and then let me know what you get. AND write that conversion down...you may need it again!
ok
yeah i was right its approx 1.340977742749 how can i make it shorter is it 1.3409?
That's good! Good job!
thank you
