how do solve this word problem a remote-control car races straight down the street at 18 ft per seconds. 2 seconds lather a second remote car races straight down the same street at 36 ft per second how long will it take to 2nd car to catch up to the 1st car A. 8 seconds b. 6 seconds c. 2 seconds d. 4 seconds

Assume the second car catches up with the first car "x" seconds later. When they catch up both cars will have traveled the sane distance. First car has a 2 second head start. So first car has traveled for (x+2) seconds and in that time it would have traveled a distance of (x+2) * 18 ft. The second car would have traveled a distance of 36 * x ft. Equate the two distances and solve for x.
