okay, so what I wanted to ask is what happens to the Fe+3? Does it become oxidized? If Fe+3 becomes oxidized, does that mean Cl- is reduced?

The oxidation number of a free element is always 0 for exampe Cl2. It is then reduced to Cl- after gaining the electron lost by Fe+2
