Water will apply an amount of buoyant force equal to the weigh of its volume displaced. So 10cm\(^3\) of the cylinder is inside the water so it will displace the same amount. 1 cm\(^3\) = 1g for water. Now 10 g of water is displaced. So weight of cylinder in the water will be 50-10=40 g
