Part A: Factor 3x2y2 - 2xy2 - 8y2. Show your work. (3 points) Part B: Factor x2 + 10x + 25. Show your work. (3 points) Part C: Factor x2 - 36. Show your work. (2 points) Part D: Do the polynomials in parts A, B, and C have a common factor? Explain your answer. (2 points)
@iambatman @jigglypuff314
whats mainly confusing me is Part A:
factor out a y^2 what do you get? :)
y^2(3x^2-2x-8)
then factor the inside :)
(sorry internet sucks) (3x^2-x)(-2x-8)
3x^2-2x-8 I think would be (3x+4)(x-2)
Oh, how would you get that i have been doing it wrong i guess
thinking of the factors of 3 and 8 1 3 2 4 and what combination of adding/subtracting would get me -2 4 minus (3 times 2) = -2
Oh okay
just got a revelation of the entire module xD
for B it would be 5 and 5 to get 10 and 25
@jigglypuff314 so for c how would that be done and D is there isn't a common factor right?
offline...
Never mind got it covered.
thanks
so whats c and d
