the charge on nitrogen is -3 and the charge on magnesium is +2. When they react with each other, their powers in chemical equation crisscross like Mg2N3. Makesure to write a solid first and gas after. in this case Manesium comes first and nitrogen which is a gas comes after. The name of the compopund is Magnesium Nitride
