PLEASE HELP; WILL FAN AND GIVE MEDAL Sodium reacts explosively with water. Which other element would you expect to react similarly with water? helium (He) cesium (Cs) xenon (Xe) carbon (C)
This will answer your question with some explanation: http://www.webelements.com/caesium/chemistry.html
@kmullis6 Have you read the info at the link?
Reading it now.
The reactions of an element with various others is mostly determined by which 'group' it is in in the periodic table. Elements in the same group have 'similar' interactions. SO - whilst @kropot72 has given you a link to Caesium, which IS in the same group, there are a number of other elements in the same group (Group1 - the 'alkali metals'). Look up the periodic table and 'alkali metals' - you'll find LOADS of interesting info about elements just from the table.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alkali_metal#mediaviewer/File:Large_Sodium_Explosion.jpg
