What is the name of this compound? Ba (OH2) ● 8H2O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Barium hydroxide and water

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Barium Hydroxide octahydrate

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

Amiran321 your naming is incorrect, you cant just add and water. If you are working in a lab it can make a big difference how many water molecules are present per compound.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

and water is not sufficient notation.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

The formula is also incorrect. The placement of parenthesis has to imply 2 hydroxide ions, not an oxygen and 2 hydrogens. The formula should be \(Ba(OH)_2•8H_2O\)
