Math is not really an experimental subject, and I do not really endorse graphing software for doing homework, but it might help you to try out examples on graphing sites and to play with the "knobs" in equations until you develop an intuition for graphs.

Yeah, I agree. I believe you should use graphing software to help you understand how changing certain features of the equation can change the graph. Play around with it! Desmos has a good online graphing calculator.
