For adults, the RDA of the amino acid lysine is 12 mg per kg of body weight. How many grams per day should a 78kg adult receive?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try 865

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

12 mg lysine -> 1 kg body weight ? mg lysine -> 78 kg body weight You can this up as: \[ \frac{\text{12 mg}}{\text{x mg}}=\frac{\text{1 kg}}{\text{78 kg}}\] then cross-multiply: \[ \frac{12\text{ mg}\times {78\cancel{\text{ kg}}}}{1\cancel{\text{ kg}}}=936 \text{ mg}\] But they ask for the quantity is grams. and \(1000 \text{ mg} = 1 {\text { g}}\), so it's \(0.936 \text{ g} \)
