Rank the following compounds in order of lowest to highest melting point. KCl CH3-O-CH3 CH3-CH2-CH3 CH3-CH2-NH2 Don't worry about subscripts or dashes, enter CH3-CH3 as CH3CH3. Lowest Melting Point < < < Highest Melting Point

OpenStudy (aaronq):

melting point (and other physical properties) are determined by the strength of the intermolecular of adjacent molecules. You need to determine what type of intermolecular forces each substance would have then rank these in terms of increasing strength.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i just did. what else do you need help with?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Try it out, if you dont get the right answer i'll (or someone else) will help you get the correct answer. But you gotta try first.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

what type of intermolecular forces does each one of these compounds have?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

If you need a refresher on IMF's http://www.science.uwaterloo.ca/~cchieh/cact/c123/intermol.html
