OpenStudy (superhelp101):

According to the activity series, which of the following single replacement reactions will take place and result in a reaction? nickel and aluminum chloride sodium phosphate and zinc potassium nitrate and aluminum barium and copper bromide @Abhisar

OpenStudy (asib1214):

barium and copper bromide

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

thanks but why is it barium and copper bromide?

OpenStudy (asib1214):

because on the reactivity chart, barium is much more reactive than copper. So when you place a piece of barium in a copper bromide solution, barium easily displace the copper ions and form and stronger bond with bromide and form barium bromide, BaBr2. An quick indication is that whatever colour of copper bromide is, it'll gradually disappear and whatever the colour of BaBr2 will start to form. It means that that the ions have been broken and reformed into BaBr2.

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

that makes so much more sense now thank youuu

OpenStudy (asib1214):

welcom :)
