It's changing to covalent bonds?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

whether a bond is ionic or covalent depends on the electronegativity differences between the two atoms. Small differences in EN make for covalent bonds, large differences make ionic bonds. Whether the bonds become more ionic or more covalent down the group will just depend on the EN values.
