OpenStudy (superhelp101):

What is the pressure, in atmospheres, of 6.0 grams of H2 gas if it has a volume of 73 liters when the temperature is 25° C? 0.50 atm 0.060 atm 1.0 atm 2.0 atm

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@Abmon98

OpenStudy (abmon98):

The Ideal Gas Law ( PV = nRT ) is unlike the other gas laws in that it does not have an initial and a final state, meaning it does not need the situation to CHANGE in order to determine a value for Pressure, Volume, amount of gas or Temperature. We can determine the Pressure, Volume, Temperature or amount of a gas (n) when the others are known. For this we must use Pressure in atmospheres, Volume in Liters, amount of gas in moles and Temperature in Kelvin.

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

what does n stand for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for moles

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

would the answer be 73 atoms?

OpenStudy (abmon98):

nope @superhelp101 Pv=nrt R=mass(g)/molar mass(g/mol) R is a constant of 0.082 (atm*L/mole*K) T stands for Temperature and is measured in kelvin V stands for Volume and is measured in Litres P is pressured is measured in atm

OpenStudy (abmon98):

@superhelp101 I think you forgot to divide by 73 L

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

3moles x 0.0821L-atm/mole-K x 298K / 73L pressure = 1 atom ???

OpenStudy (abmon98):

yes thats right but put L-atm/mole-K in brackets

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

oh. i will. thank you very much :-)

OpenStudy (abmon98):

your most welcome :D
