OpenStudy (kanwal32):

A balloon containing 1 mole air at 1 atm initially is filled further with air till pressure increases to 4atm. The initial diameter of the balloon is 1 m and the pressure at each stage is proportion to diameter of the balloon. How many no. of moles of air added to change the pressure from 1atm and 4 atm (ans=256)

OpenStudy (kainui):

I think if we systematically list out our variables to sort of lay out what we have, it will become more obvious as to what we need to look at by combining this with PV=nRT and the formula for volume of a sphere 4/3pi r^3

OpenStudy (kanwal32):

yes

@Kainui hlp

OpenStudy (abmon98):

If pressure is proportional to diameter, the diameter at 4atm will be 4m. The ratio volume of sphere. 4/3*pi(2)^3/(4/3*pi*(1/2)^3))=64 so the volume at 4 m is 64 times bigger than at 1 m From the PV relationship 4*64=256
