Help!!! Can someone help me out with this question? Triangle QRS has been rotated 90° to create triangle TUV. Using the image below, prove that perpendicular lines have opposite and reciprocal slopes. You must show all of your work to receive credit. I DO NOT want the exact answer, I want help getting through it. Thanks!!!!!
need the image
That's it.

I will fan!
Are you able to find slope of a line through 2 given points?
Yes- I use the formula m=y^2-y^1/x^2-x^1, correct?
..... say slopes of lines through UV and RS
Great!
pray continue!
Okay... one sec
So for RS, I got 1.
Good job!
And the same for UV, but that seems wrong....
Watch signs!
-1?
Would that work? Because they are opposites and reciprocals?
@mathmate ?
Yes, that is a good validation of the rule.
However, it is not a \(proof\). Not sure if you're expected to show a general proof, in which case the diagram of the reflection is not necessary.
I'm not sure.. I know that's not a full proof, so would I say that, and then find the equations??
Sorry, I'm a bit confused
If I were in your place, I would show your work, conclude that the two lines are perpendicular (geometric proof) AND that the two slopes are opposite and reciprocal. Then include a note that it is not a full proof, but a validation of the case in point and leave it at that.
Ok, thanks!
You're welcome! :)
