what happens when a population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium? A. organism produce no offspring B. Mutation are common C. allele frequency is stable D. there are infinite alleles

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

any guess..

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yes, what do you think it should be ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Well tried @aracolon1224 ! but sadly that's not correct.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Do you understand the hardy-weinberg principle ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and no.... Biology is not one of my subjects but I am trying to get my hands on it as much as possible. @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

May be it's not your subject but you can surely make it your subject. It's very easy. The principle states that If an infinitely large, random mating population is free from outside evolutionaryforces (i.e. mutation, migration and natural selection), then the gene `frequencies will not change over time` and the frequencies in the next generation will be p2 for the AA genotype, 2pq for the Aa genotype and q2 for the aa genotype.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Now recheck the four options, can you select the correct one ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c @Abhisar

OpenStudy (abhisar):

BRILLIANT !

OpenStudy (abhisar):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you Great help @Abhisar
