ok?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay
OpenStudy (kva1992):
5 12 13 is a triangle you remember quite a bit so sin would equal 5/13

What's the expansion of \[\sin (\alpha+\beta)\]?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
well once you get sin a and sin b you would use your identity
OpenStudy (kva1992):
which is sinA cosB +cosA sin B
OpenStudy (amilapsn):
hey kva let him try!
OpenStudy (kva1992):
oh snaps lol i thought you were him my bad lol

@oroutdoors hey where are you?
OpenStudy (kva1992):
lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Sorry I stepped away for a minute! its sina cosb - cosa sinb??
OpenStudy (kva1992):
correct

do you know how to get your sin a and sin b? or remember?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No thats where I keep messing up
OpenStudy (kva1992):
alright well lets start with the easier one
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so cos b is 5/6 correct?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct

OpenStudy (kva1992):
alright draw a triangle so you can find sin b
OpenStudy (amilapsn):
sin(a+b) is not equal to sinacosb - cosasinb!!
OpenStudy (kva1992):
yeah it is
OpenStudy (anonymous):
;-/ haha
OpenStudy (kva1992):
its the identity

go double check that if you dont believe me
OpenStudy (amilapsn):
look back your books!!
OpenStudy (kva1992):
look at the formula
OpenStudy (kva1992):
sin(a+b) = sinacosb+cosasinb
sin(a-b) = sinacosb-cosasinb

OpenStudy (amilapsn):
ok
OpenStudy (kva1992):
|dw:1406494404902:dw|
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so this will give you your sin a
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):
Okay thats where I keep screwing up
OpenStudy (amilapsn):
\[\sin (\alpha+\beta)=\frac{ 25-12\sqrt{11} }{ 78}\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ya
OpenStudy (anonymous):
So far haha

sin 5/13 cos 12/13?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I'm not getting it
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think i'm with you for the most part haha. Should I go ahead and plug those in?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Did you delete what you had?

OpenStudy (anonymous):
No it's okay I just scrolled back down and wasn't sure
OpenStudy (kva1992):
btw do you have the answer key?

OpenStudy (kva1992):
ahh got ya well lemme double check before you put it in
OpenStudy (kva1992):
it would have to be that method for the first one second one it would be a different identity but same value and tan would be the same
OpenStudy (kva1992):
but double check its the right formula
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Ok hold on

its on the right side sum difference formula
OpenStudy (anonymous):
The method they want me to use in the example I get the answer 25/78-2root11/13
OpenStudy (kva1992):
well go with what the example they use maybe i miscalculated not a computer after all lol
OpenStudy (kva1992):
but i know i used the right formula for a fact
OpenStudy (kva1992):
oh snaps lol i wrote the cosb wrong lol i used the reciprocal

gimme 1 sec and ill give you the proper values
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Thanks for your help! @amilapsn had the right answer the program didn't like how I entered it of well lol
OpenStudy (kva1992):
the values were (5/13)(5/6)+(12/13)(square root 11/6)
OpenStudy (kva1992):
so it would have resulted in the same answer
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yes

OpenStudy (kva1992):
sorry for wasting your time i guess lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
No I appreciate your help! don't be sorry!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
for part b -10/13-5root11/78?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is that what you get @amilapsn
