nooo idea how to do the parts besides oxidation numbers: Identify the oxidation numbers for each element in the following equations. Then determine whether each equation describes a redox reaction. Justify your answer in terms of electron transfer. Describe the oxidation and reduction that occurs. a. Ca + 2HCl --> CaCl2 + H2 b. 2KOH + K2Cr2O7 --> 2K2CrO4 + H2O

In equation a.oxidation no. Of Ca goes from 0 to +2 that is it oxidises whereas Cl goes from -1 to -2 so it reduces and oxidation no. Of H goes from +1 to 0 so it reduces so it is a redox equation

Whereas in equation b.K goes from +1 to +2 so it oxidises also hydrogen oxidises as it goes from +1 to +2 whereas oxidation no. Of Cr goes from +12 to +6 so it reduces whereas oxidation no. Of O goes from -14 to -8 so it oxidises so it is a redox equation
