When two aqueous solutions are mixed together, the temperature of the solution decreases. What statement best describes this reaction? The reaction is exothermic with a negative enthalpy change. The reaction is endothermic with a negative enthalpy change. The reaction is exothermic with a positive enthalpy change. The reaction is endothermic with a positive enthalpy change.

A reaction in which heat energy is given off is said to be exothermic, temperature increases. A reaction in which heat energy is absorbed is said to be endothermic, temperature decreases. |dw:1406689631462:dw|
oh yeah how could i forgot hahah. when temp decreases is is exothermic. I was confused about the positve and negative enthalpy change so. b and d can't be it. i was thinking The reaction is exothermic with a positive enthalpy change. Now i am think The reaction is exothermic with a negative enthalpy change. is that right???
nope it is not exothermic its endothermic, the products have a higher energy than the reactants. The system absorbs this extra energy as heat from the surroundings so temperature decreases, exothermic cant have a positive enthalpy its always a negative sign. so endothermic reaction do have a positive sign
oh that is a boo boo on my end so are you saying that it's The reaction is endothermic with a positive enthalpy change. ?
yes.
^ thanks!
