What noble gas configuration will the element sodium end up with when it ionizes?

Sodium, Na Electronic Configuration = 2,8,1 Valency = 1 Neon, Ne Electronic Configuration = 2,8 Valency = 0 So when Sodium ionises, it loses its one valence electron and become Neon. SO THE ANSWER IS NEON. Hope this Helps.. :) Thanks, Midhun
