The axis of symmetry of a quadratic equation is \[x =\frac{ -b}{ 2a }\] . The vertices are the solution to the quadratic equation at x = axis of symmetry. The maximum/minimum condition depends on the value of a. If a is negative, it's a maximum and vice versa. To calculate the y-intercept, set x = 0.
