Could someone help me please... If we want to produce 5 ppm of chlorine gas from vinegar(acetic acid) and chlorine(Sodium hypochlorite) how to write the chemical equation and calculate??
This is the chemical equation of the reaction....C2H4O2 + NaClO = NaCl + 2 H2O + C2O Do you have any given values of the substance?????
hpw much chlorine and vinegar do you have????
@shoba
thank you.....then how to produce 5 ppm of chlorine gas? this is to test the chlorine leak detector in industry... thats what we need to find the mass of vinegar and bleach to produce chlorine gas....
ok the only other volume of substance you need is the volume of the 5ppm concentration of chlorine.... if you have that you can easily find the mass of both acetic acid and bleach like this... I'm going to ignore the products of the reaction and work only with chlorine gas because this reaction does produce chlorine gas and secondly i don't have enough space to write out the whole chemical equation.... so let's go!!!|dw:1407130127274:dw|
