Help setting up this trig problem. Screenshot is attached
@study100
I can't figure it out!
now on west you need to find the inside angle of the triangle.
90-42?
Ohh thats where I was messing up!
now that you know the angles, you can use the Laws of Sines.
then I was doing 122*sin132/sin(74)?
A/sinA= B/sinB= C/sinC
they're asking you to find from west station to balloon. Which is WB
amg I did it backwards.
42 is on west, and 16 is on east so 90-42= 48 degrees of west station. 90+16= 106 degrees of east station.
Okay thats what I had but then I got lost
48 deg = angle W 106 deg = angle E we know a triangle has 180 deg angle B= 180-48-106 angle B= 26 degrees
now laws of cosine WE/sin21= WB/sin106
WB= (WE/sin21)(sin106)
WB= (122/sin21)sin(106) WB= 327.24 miles
Thats not the answer tho right?
that should be the correct answer. :o @zepdrix Can you check my work?
Hmm I got 267 somehow but neither of those are options
Lemme check my work.
Could you help me with this one also? I'm blanking
ahhh maybe it's 90-16 on the eastern side.
Aw you erased the picture :d lol
angel west = 48 degrees angle east = 90-16= 74 degrees angle B= 180-48-74= 58 degrees WE/sin58= WB/sin74 WB= (122/sin(58)) (sin74) WB= 138.28 miles
so this is the correct answer, bc it says northwest of east, I think I drew the picture northeast of east. station.
which makes the east angle = 90-16= 74 degrees. :D
