OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question was to verify algebraically

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from 2nd last how you got the last step is unclear otherwise rest are all corect

i just thought it maybe possible to just take the reciprocal but i figured it was wrong haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alternatively : given sinx/(1+cosx) = sinx (1- cosx) / ( (1+cosx) * (1- cosx) ) = sinx (1-cosx)/( 1 - cos^2 x ) = sinx (1-cosx)/sin^2 x = (1- cos x )/sin x = 1/sinx - cosx/sinx =1/sinx - cotx =1/sinx - 1/tanx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so I should try to make sinx/1+cosx equal to 1/sinx-1/tanx so try to reduce the opposite side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you should generally reduce the left side to the right side...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you!
