If a neutral atom has a mass of 15 amu and an atomic number of 7, determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the atom.

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

atomic number of a particle is defined by number of protons or number of electrons and for atomic mass u can write atomic mass=no. of protons +no. of neutrons atomic number = 7, then no.of protons = 7 and also no. of electrons = 7 neutrons = 15 - 7 = 8 so-- protons=7 electrons=7 neutrons=8

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):

did u understand what i wrote? @kitteh♥

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks i was putting it in my notebook

OpenStudy (sidsiddhartha):
