@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (cj49):

6.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how? steps please?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

if 12% will be rejected on inspection, then it means that 88% will not be rejected. therefore he will sell 88% of 22000 items at 7.5 each so total sales will be 0.88 * 22000 * 7.5 lets say each item costs him C, this means his total cost for buying 22000 items is 22000C now you know the total sales and total cost price use these to work out the cost price as you are told that the profit should be 20%

Ah!

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

hopefully you can solve from there now :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thanks let me have a try )

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

yw :)

OpenStudy (cj49):

88%=22000 100%=25000 25000@7.5=187500 187500=120% 100%=156250 i.e 6.25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohk!! well let me see if it's coming..the actual answer is 550

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

@cj49 the question said that 12% will be rejected - it does not say that the total AFTER rejection is 22000

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah! true

OpenStudy (cj49):

ah! i missed dat part..
