which would have more negative electron gain enthalpy -bromine or fluorine ? give reason . do inter-electronic repulsions in 2p-orbital is responsible for fluorine to have less negative electron gain enthalpy than that of bromine ?

please help!!!

OpenStudy (abb0t):

This question really isn't that hard, but think of the size of fluorine in comparison to bromine.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to abb0t according to your sayings, this means fluorine has more -ve electron gain enthalpy than bromine ???

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, fluorine is smaller in comparison to bromine, and therefore, the electrons are more compact, meaning more repulsion. Do you follow me?
