If you write the roots as fractional exponents, you can simplify using the rules of exponents.\[\sqrt[a]{x^{b}}=x ^{\frac{ b }{ a }}\]

Using the formula I gave you, I'll give you an example: \[\sqrt{5}=5^{\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }}\] because the root is 2 and the exponent of 5 is 1.
