how to calculate the no. of hybrid orbitals in C2H4

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

In C2H2, there is a triple bond between the carbons and each carbon is single bonded to a H. There are two electron areas around each Carbon, one electron area is a double bond and one electron area is a single bond. Since there are two electron areas, the hybridization is sp (note that one S and one p equals two) Source: https://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080604165403AAKkr7p
