Given h(x)=x^2+5 find h^-1(x) (inverse!) Could anyway please explain to me how to solve this problem step by step, I honestly have no idea how to do this. thanks:)

OpenStudy (colouringme):

When you want to inverse something, that means you want to "swap" the domain with the range, therefore, the value of x would turn into y and y into x. \[h(x)= x ^{2} + 5\] can be written as \[y = x ^{2} + 5\] then you swap the x with y, the new equation will be...

no idea

OpenStudy (colouringme):

just change the letter x into y

OpenStudy (colouringme):

and y into x --- we're trying to inverse it, it's sort or swapping it. Example: y +2 = x and let say that y = 1 and x = 3, and you want to inverse it, that means you want to replace the value of x and y, into x=1 and y=3, therefore, what you did is x + 2 = y --- do the same with the equation you've asked

i think i solved it, is the solution plus minus sqrt x-5
