is it right?? 1/6
well theres 1+4=5 2+3=5 6 sided die and its a pair (2) so 12 sides all together 2 combination \[\frac{ 2 }{ 12}or \frac{ 1 }{ 6 }\] good job :)
thanks
Using this chart http://bestcase.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/dicediagram.jpg
there are 4 ways to roll a '5' 1+4 = 5 2+3 = 5 3+2 = 5 4+1 = 5 this is out of 36 ways total so, 4/36 = 1/9 is your answer and it's not 1/6
ahh yes didnt think we needed to do the other 2 my bad
no problem :) :)
do you know what prime numbers are
yeah 2,3,4,7 etc
is 1 prime?
4 isnt prime
1,2,3,5 are prime
yeah
4/6 of the numbers are prime now multiply both by 2 \[\frac{ 8 }{ 12 }\] can you simplify that
2/3??
yes
2/3 is not a answer choice
then yes go that way
i wasnt involving both ways the die can be rolled
does that look right to you jim
what you think @jim_thompson5910 sir
1 isn't prime
?
2,3,5 are the only prime numbers on the 6 sided die
why wouldnt 1 be prime can only be multiplied by 1 and itself
it has to do with the fact that every integer can be factored *uniquely* as a product of primes
example 28 = 2*2*7 order doesn't matter
i read online you're correct theres a theorem that explains it
Fundamental theorem of arithmetic
but 1 = 1*1 or 1 = 1*1*1 or 1 = 1*1*1*1 so these examples show that 1 throws everything off which is why mathematicians ignore 1 as a prime
i love this site :) people explain better than books
do we need to multiply or add that ?????
possible numbers are 11,13,23,31,41,43,53,61 total numbers=8 probability=8/36=2/9
which question you did
number appearing prime on a pair of dice
but how we can use 11 13 23 dice are 1 to 6 i mean can you explain i didn't get that
one on first die,1 on 2nd die,1 on 1st die 3 on second die .........
11,13 .....are prime numbers.
|dw:1408143198522:dw| 11 and 13 are not in dice
