Is anyone willing to help me with a couple of questions on Arithmetic Sequences I WILL MEDAL FOR YOUR HELP
i do not understand what you mean by that statment
@satellite73 i dont want people to give me answers i just want help
@SolomonZelman Pleeeeeease help
ill try!
So you don't know what an "Arithmetic Sequence" is ?
im not certain what it is its what the section is labled as and i havnt started the section yet. I wanted to know if someone was willing to help before i statrted it
I'm willing!!
and i was correct to ask for help because i just started it and i am clueless
ok sierraurb thank you
np :) tag me when you post the problem!
What is the general rule for the sequence? 1.11, 2.54, 3.97, 5.40, ...
i dont know what that means
It means what is the common difference between each term
Do you know what a common difference is?
1.37
i mean 1.43
yes!! thats right, do you know why?
thats the amount between each number
correct :) good job!!
There are 2 types of a sequence. \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Arithmetic}}\) A bunch of numbers that have a certain pattern of subtracting or adding some number. For example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 1,~3,~5,~7,~9....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to add a 2 to get a next number, right ? or for example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 4,~-1,~-6,~-11,~-16....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to subtract a 5 to get a next number, right ? \(\normalsize\color{black}{ \rm {Geometric}}\) A bunch of numbers that have a certain pattern of multiplying or dividing by some number. For example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 1,~2,~4,~8,~16....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to multiply times 2 to get a next number, right ? or for example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 1,~-3,~~9,~-27,~~81....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to multiply times -1 to get a next number, right ? or for example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 1,~~~~1/4,~~~1/16,~~~1/64,~~~1/256....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to divide by 4 to get a next number, right ? or for example \(\normalsize\color{black}{ 1,~~~~-1/5,~~~1/25,~~~-1/125,~~~1/625....}\) you can see that the pattern here is to divide by -5 to get a next number, right ?
This "sequence" can be an arithmetic or geometric, and doesn't have to start from 1, it can start from any number.
wow thats alot, but im following you
Good
Any questions ?
btw thankyou to both of you
yes
What is the 100th term of the arithmetic sequence? 3, 8, 13, 18, …
