"Solids have highest degree of order" Explain this sentence in detail.
Hi Joanne, sorry I had to go out for a minute - bank, shoprite...food..the works In answer to your question Zain... In solids, the molecules are tight and compact, forming a close, buzzing formation. In comparison, liquids are less compact, some holding together in groups, but most just floating around. Finally, in gases, the molecules just fly around, bouncing off each other and the walls. This is mostly influenced by temperature, the higher the temperature, the closer it gets to a gas, and the colder, the closer it gets to a solid. This is because temperature is directly correlated to the amount of energy a substance has - the higher the temperature, the more energy, the lower the temperature, the less energy. Hope this makes sense! :)
